Hospital to Offer Medical Services For Foreigners
On the first week of November, the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital will be opening its international center that will offer medical services for foreigners living in the city. The five story medical center will house more than 200 beds, from single wards, luxury wards and intensive care units. Facilities such as a recovery room, health center and cafeteria will be offered as well. Patients treated cannot pay their bills using medical insurance and hospital charges will vary depending on the treatment.
As of the moment the treatment center is offering general practice services and health checks with medical experts from Hong Kong along with professors from Hong Kong University are invited to be lead doctors at the center. Patients can choose doctors for their treatment and appointment is needed when going to the medical center. Patient’s treatments are not limited to foreigners, Chinese patients can also get treatment as long as they can make appointments.
Shenzhen has a large number of foreigners living in the city and they see a big demand for medical services. Currently there are medical organizations in Beijing and shanghai that offer such services for foreigners but only a few in Shenzhen. Medical experts say that such offering such services in Shenzhen is an advantage as the city in terms of international practices, language, technology and services.
The treatment center was established to offer medical services to foreigners and profits from fees collected will be used as operating costs.
