Huawei Takes Third Spot as World Largest Smart Phone Seller
For the third quarter of this year Huawei Technologies Co. was named the world’s third largest smart phone vendor due its popular P6 and G610 models. Analysts from Boston based research firm Strategy Analytics named the company a performer in the market of the smart phone industry as the company’s global shipment has grown at least 67 percent year on year.
Apple and Samsung still takes the top two spots as they lead the market with large margins although there was strong competition for the third spot from various smart phone manufacturers, Huawei eventually took the lead and claimed the spots having 5.1 percent sales for the third quarter of this year. The increase in sales was due to its higher end smart phone models Ascend P6 and its mainstream unit G610 which is especially sellable in the Chinese market.
Even when Huawei maintains a solid hold in China, its position in the European and US market is getting weaker. To regain the market the company needs to expand aggressively and to seriously challenge Samsung and Apple next year. Huawei also made several improvements as the company shipped more than a million phones worldwide which is 3 percent of the market and made the company the world’s fifth biggest vendor for the third quarter.
For the whole mobile phone market, Huawei also made strides during the period. The Shenzhen-based company shipped 14.6 million mobile phones worldwide for 3 percent market share to become the world’s fifth largest vendor in the third quarter of 2013.
