Samsung to Invest Further and Boost Production of LCD Displays
Samsung Display a unit under Samsung Electronics Co. have recently announced that its first LCD plant started its operations and joins other LCD makers in boosting the supply of LCD’s in the country even when the TV market is already shrinking and an oversupply of flat screens is seen.
Samsung Display and its nearest competitor LG Display are building flat screen plants in china in hopes to help them compete with its Chinese rivals such as BOE Technology and TCL Corp. two companies that are underlining these two largest LCD makers and gaining more of the market shares with bigger sales from local TV manufacturers. The plant started its operations early as Samsung’s shipments of its TV display globally fell in the third quarter as demand for televisions in China and Europe is shrinking.
Still panel makers is expanding their capacity in China to further tap in the fast growing consumers electronics industry as families is still in the market to buy new TV sets to replace their old ones. To further increase their outputs Samsung Electronics will be investing more in its LCD manufacturing facility in Suzhou in Shanghai in the last quarter of this year.
