Company to Hire More Workers at California Based Plant
BYD Co. the Shenzhen based car maker recently announced its plans to hire more employees at their new factory that manufacture electric buses in California amid criticism that the company has been violating labor rules in the United States.
BYD has loaned some of their Chinese engineers to assist in the transfer of Chinese technology to the employees at their Los Angeles factory so they will not have to fire any American workers. The company will be hiring more employees since work on production is about to start and as of the moment the factory only has 40 workers. Even with the accusation made by the Los Angeles for a New Economy advocacy group said that the company failed to pay the required minimum wages to workers along with other violations which led to fines issued by the Californian authorities.
The company claimed that all the issues brought up by the labor rights group is misleading and the company is dedicated to make sure that all of its employees will be treated fairly. BYD is the largest environmentally friendly electric bus and battery manufacturer is now increasing their efforts in selling their electric vehicles globally.
