Schools to Close and Outdoor Activities to Be Suspended During Days with Heavy Smog
During times where air pollution is at its more severe the Ministry of Environmental Protection said that city will be closing schools, shorten work hours and suspend outdoor activities. The city will be taking every possible measure from imposing traffic restrictions to halting factory production to cut emissions during heavy smog.
The new guidelines came as the country tackles the constant problems with smog in all of its big cities which is the result of economic growth. Even with constant calls and implementation of new measures to cut air pollution and amid the growing public anger, it seems that the problems have turn to worse. Work and schools can operate normally during days when smog is tolerable but when severe smog or when pollution reaches hazardous levels they will be forced to shut down. Airports and buses terminals will also be closed during heavy smog to prevent any incidents.
China will also strengthen its anti pollution measures and will reduce dependency on coal, furthermore security departments will also strengthen vehicle checks, phase out older yellow label vehicles and ensure that roads will not be crowded with too much vehicles during rush hours.
