Shenzhen Ranks Fifth in Foreigner Friendly City in 2013
Expats ranked Shenzhen as the fifth most attractive Chinese cities out of ten. The survey was released yesterday as the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals ended. The survey carried the theme 2013 Amazing China/the Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners have ranked Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin a the top three cities for foreigners followed by Guangzhou on fourth and Shenzhen on fifth place.
The survey was based on opinions for major indications namely political environment, policy environment, living and working environment. Shenzhen took the third spot in policy and political environment while Shenzhen ranked fourth in the working environment and eighth in the living environment. The city ranked low in the living environment due to low scores that is gained in the educational environment for expat children. Shenzhen ranked higher is other categories especially in the protection of foreigner rights and interests, promoting opportunity and salary and the quality of government officials.
The city is a very comfortable city to live in and is considered as one important high-tech research and development base in China where education have reached international levels. Meanwhile Shanghai and Beijing takes the top two spots for two years running both cities rendered higher scores that their average in every categories but its attractiveness is held back due to heavy traffic jams and the current air pollution problem.
Since 2010 foreign experts are invited to evaluate Chinese cities especially in the categories from living, policy and public service environment along with working conditions.
