New Regulations Require Delivery Companies to Monitor Operations
Courier and delivery companies in the city are now required to conduct a 24 hour monitoring of daily operations at their venues. Based on the new drafted city regulations that is meant to revive the development of the delivery industry. The office of the legislative affairs is now inviting the public to give their opinions on the planned regulations.
The regulations will require companies to keep monitoring data for 30 days. Furthermore express delivery companies are asked to keep tabs on collection, transport, sorting and deliveries of express packages. The close monitoring is intended to help in the reduction of damages and loss of items during delivery. Delivery personnel should also be wearing proper identification of their companies. Recently residents have been complaining on some bad services coming from several delivery companies that have handled their packages at some point some companies are asking the customers to come to their office to pick up their packages.
The new regulations will require these companies to ask customers if they want their packages to be insured and to also inform the customers on how they will be compensated for damages and losses. The delivery industry in the city recorded an income of more than 9 million yuan and has grown 43 percent from 2011.
To boost the development of the industry further the city land planning department will be supporting big express delivery companies to start the creation of the large scale service and sorting facilities by transforming old factories and vacant lots into venues for courier services.
