Populations Authority States Country's Plan to Change Policies on Family PlanningA representative from the nation’s population authority said that the country is planning to fine tune the 30 year old policy for family planning. Steps must be taken to further maintain a low birth rate and at the same time satisfy a family’s desire to have more children. the country’s economic and social development and demographic changes are also to be considered if any changes will be made to the policy since its has been on the priority list on the commission’s agenda.

The decision to fine tune came after the speculation that the central government is relaxing the policy on family planning after the Third Plenum of the Communist party of China’s 18th Central Committee. Suggestions were made that a couple either the husband or the wife is a single child can have a second child which presently is only applied to couples that are both single children.

A lot of research and investigations were made that focused on the population quantity, structure and quality to work out the guidelines that will further assist on the fine tuning of the policy on family planning. The next step will be on how the commission will implement the new policies that is set by the central government. Any changes in the policy will done in a well coordinated way and will take into accounts any current and future situation.

Now that the new policy plan is sent to the State Council it’s up to them if these changes will be introduced on a trial basis on selected areas or nationwide.
