Drivers can Settle Fines Using EasyLink Terminals
Drivers who are caught violating traffic rules in Guangdong that involved paying fines of not more than 200 yuan with penalties of not more than six points can now pay their fines and confirm penalties using EasyLink POS terminals that are found across the province. The measure which took effect Wednesday was part of the traffic police efforts in saving driver time and money.
Before drivers that were caught or involved in violations which resulted in penalty points are required to visit the nearest police station to accept their punishment. The new measure only applies to those drivers whose licenses that were issued by police authorities in Guangdong. Several drivers have already benefited from the new policy as they were able to pay their fines at the nearest EasyLink POS terminals.
Drivers paying their fine using UnionPay, the police database automatically removes the fine designation from the vehicles that were involved in the violation. The UnionPay card must belong to the corresponding driver’s license that was involved in the violation. To discourage scalping of penalty points wherein non violating drivers accepts payments to have penalty points placed on their licenses, the drivers phone number that is used for payment at EasyLink terminals must be the same number that is registered with the drivers license. Those who changed their numbers are asked to verify their new number at police service counters.
