President Jinping Meets with New President for the International Olympic Committee
International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and congratulated Bach on his election as the ninth president for the International Olympic Committee and at the same time thanked him and the IOC guidance and support for the Chinese sports and Olympic movement. XI also applauded the role that the IOC played in boosting the sports development.
Xi pushed that sports can help in improving a person’s health and will also promote friendship among people from different parts of the world. XI noted on how the country has successfully hosted international sports games in the past years namely the Guangzhou Asian Games, the Beijing Paralympics and the Beijing Olympic Games. XI also said that the country will also make efforts in improving the nation’s health outlook and develop competitive sports.
And as the second Youth Olympic Games is scheduled to be held in Nanjing next August, preparations is well on its way and the country will honor their commitment in making the games a great success. Beijing and the city of Zhangjiakou is also working on bidding to host the 2022 Winter Olympics as the country is taking this opportunity to Promote the Olympics and winter sports.
Bach thanked Xi and the Chinese government in their support for the international Olympics and its contribution to the world of sports.
