Transit Cards to Extend Validity without Purchasing New Ones
As the city’s oldest public transit cards validity period of ten years is coming to an end. Residents are reminded that to keep continuing the use of their Shenzhentong transit cards users needs to go to one of the seven Shenzhentong service stores to extend their cards for free.
These were the first batch of transit cards that were issued by the city and once the validity is expired the cards will become useless. Users can have these cards renewed to extend their validity without even purchasing a new card. To protect the remaining balance on their cards, users need to extend their cards validity at designated Shenzhentong card stores.
Eventually the company will be canceling out the recognition system for the validity period of card terminals by next year, so users need not to worry on extending a cards’ use. And to act as further safeguard the new Shenzhentong transit cards will have a validity of more than ten years.
Starting next month as well the Lingnan Pass cards that are used in cities and areas in Guangdong will also be eligible for use in Shenzhen.
