Oldest Membership Store to Maximize Space to Attract More Customers
To increase the enjoyment and ease of in store shopping the world’s biggest retailer refashioned itself as traditional retailers are constantly being outdone by e-commerce. The oldest membership Sam’s Club opened in 1996 has maximized their space for shoppers by rearranging store shelves and giving up nearly a thousand less popular items.
To win back affluent shoppers Sam’s Club has introduced around 300 new products from LED TV sets, golf clubs, imported furniture and bikes, the store is also planning to sell high end goods such as yachts is the customer asks for it. As of the moment the store is selling more than 6,000 items and may be cut down to 4,000 store keeping units to provide better service to customers. To relive large crowds on weekends the store will be increasing its fruit and vegetable section of 400 square meters and live seafood will be replaced with packages of fresh seafood that are ready for cooking.
There are more than 10 Sam’s Club stores in China and has attracted around 1.3 million hopping members from different parts of the country/ by upgrading its Futian Store, Walmart is planning to increase its competitive edge by adding an investment of 500 million yuan to refurbish 50 of its store outlets in China.
