H.E.L.P. Concert Bringing the Spirit of Community

The Filipino community is very thankful for the outpouring support from all the locals and expats who attended the event, donated and volunteered their time and efforts for H.E.L.P – Humanitarian Efforts to Lift the Philippines concert held last November 24 at X-TA-SEA in Seaworld.  The sold-out concert kicked off late in the afternoon and lasted all through the night with performances from bands Gone Wild, Mind the Gap, Terrace All Stars, Achushla, Harmony, Bolt Action and more.

The event was organized by the Filipino community in Shenzhen and was spearheaded by Ms. Vangie Ricasata.   She and the rest of the group have been organizing events for the community successfully for the last couple of years and now have decided to launch this event to help their fellowmen affected by typhoon Haiyan.  Through social media, the second day after the typhoon, they started mobilizing the community to contribute to the relief effort.  As of now, contributions are more than ¥30,000 in cash and goods not just from the Filipinos in Shenzhen, but also from other fellowmen and expats all over the PRD area.

Both locals and expats have showed their spirit of “Bayanihan” or sense of community helping others.  In Filipino:

“Maraming salamat po!”
