Airport to Add More Taxis to Accomodate Arriving Passengers
To minimize the time that arriving passengers waiting for taxis at the Shenzhen International Airport, the city transportation commission will be opening three more waiting areas at three waiting entrances at the ground transportation center. The new airport layout can allow 12 taxis to pick up passengers at the same time and greatly reduces wait times for passengers.
During the first day of airport operations at the new terminal that handles around 90,000 passengers in a day, saw the number of passengers taking taxis has also increased because of the inconvenient location of airport shuttles rout 330 along with the need to take the free connecting bus that grants access to Metro trains. This prompted the transport commission to organize more than 2,000 taxis to service the airport’s needs in picking up arriving passengers. A taxi turnover at the new terminal shows that it has reached more than 6,500 passenger pick up a day which is a 50 percent increase from the taxi use compared to the previous terminals A and B.
Furthermore the transportation officials are planning to add more bus on route 330 and to open more airport express buses that connect the ground transportation center with the city. Five buses are added to the free connecting route M416 and another 10 buses to route 417 to assist passengers traveling to the airport coming from Luobao Line Hourui and the airport East stations and intervals of the two new routes will be shortened.
The M416 buses that shuttles passengers between Hourui Station and the Ground Transportation center drew several complaints from passengers because of long lines and overcrowding at the new terminal.
