Police to Close Several Roads to Give Way to Marathon
For the upcoming Shenzhen inaugural Angel International Marathon the Shenzhen traffic police will be using a fluid vehicle control system and will close down Shennan Road and Shennan Boulevard by section to give way to the marathon. The closing measures will be done based on the race progress that will start at 7 am and ends by 1 pm. Residents are asked to use public transportation when possible drivers are asked to use Binhe, Beihuan and Binhai Boulevards or Nanping Expressway.
The marathon will have amre than 42 kilometers of race track and will be starting at the public square at the Shenzhen Civic Center in Futian and will head west ot Nantou Checkpoint along Shennan Boulevard then turns east towards the intersection of Shennan Road Central and Hongling Road Central. From there racers can run back westward along Shennan Road Central and Shennan Boulevard then towards the finish line at the Shenzhen Civic Center. A half marathon will also be held after the full marathon and will end at the TCL building near Shennan Boulevard in Nanshan District.
The westbound section of Shennan Boulevard will be closed from 12 am to 6 am to give way to the construction of the facilities that will be used for the event. Roads at the Shenzhen Civic Center will be closed and the underground parking area will be open to vehicles with certificates. To lessen the impact of the marathon on traffic police will also be controlling all vehicles section by section based on the race progress.
Event organizers have set a cap of 10,000 participants for the event and will be divided into 2,500 racers for the full marathon, 2,000 for the half marathon and 5,500 racers for the 6 kilometer race.
