Tencent Grows to Be One of Most Valued Brands in China
Tencent Holdings has grown quickly in the past years and is now considered as one of china’s most valuable technological listed company with a value that is fast closing on Wal-Mart Stores. As of the moment Tencent is worth US$33 billion dollars even if the company is unknown outside if China based on the yearly ranking of Chinese listed companies that is compiled.
Global retailer Wal-Mart is valued at US$ 36 billion as reported by the advertising company WPP-Millward Brown global ranking. The annual ranking is based on the analysis of s certain brand revenue and how the consumer response to the brand. This made Tencent the first technological company to break into the top three most valuable brands in China. The Chinese ranking covers only the country’s publicly traded companies that means the high profile technology brands such as Huawei Technologies, Alibaba Group Holdings are not part of the brands although Alibaba is said to go public by 2014.
Tencent text and voice messaging service WeChat is one of the most used app boasting more than 275 million users making it popular with Chinese consumers for the online games and social media applications.
