State Owned Mobile Providers Issued 4G Licenses
In a bold move to boost economic growth and create more jobs, China issued licenses for 4G mobile phone services starting yesterday. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted the three State owned mobile telecommunication services its 4G licenses that is based on the country’s TD-LTE standards.
China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile will be providing faster and better quality mobile services with the new 4G network. All three companies conducted several large scale tests of TD-LTE better known as Time Division Long Term Evolution is one of the two standards being used and the technology is ready for commercial use. With the new 4G service it will take only two seconds for mobile users to download a 10MB piece of software and a 2GB high definition movie in less than 5 minutes.
The ministry will be testing a converged TD-LTE/LTE FDD network soon but details on when has not yet been determined since its LTE FDD licenses is still to be issued. The move is expected to bring in a fresh round of investment in the telecom equipment, software, handsets that will boost consumption and economic growth.
The introduction of the 3G network have created more than 4 million job opportunities and brought in 2.7 trillion in investments in the span of three years. the introduction of the 4G services will further boost the economy as more jobs will be created.
