Urbanism and Architectural Design Exhibit Opens Today in Nanshan
With the theme of exploring the urban border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen the fifth Shenzhen Hong Kong Bi City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture opens today in Nanshan district the exhibit is open to the public and its free and incorporates the efforts of more than 100 participants from overseas and in China,
The exhibit will focus on demonstrating the development of architecture and the relations with human life as they utilize two old venues in the Shekou industrial zone namely the old warehouse at the Shekou ferry terminal and the Guangdong Floating Glass factory. Different architectural designs from different parts of the world will be displayed at the glass factory and the warehouse will display exhibits that focus on academic research that is related to architecture. The location of the exhibition venues promotes the development in the area and will bring in new opportunities. The location also shows historic significance since Shekou is home of the earlier industries in the city.
The exhibition is considered a vehicle for change at the old glass factory that has transition over the past eight months that transformed it from a urban birder site to a new cultural destination. The exhibition will also feature architectural designs coming from macau and eight other countries. Also the exhibit has invited competition from student designers in China design and art colleges.
