Third Phase of Metro Line 7 Development Marked with Addition of Tunnel Shield
The third phase of the development of the Metro system in the city was marked with the addition of a 500 ton tunnel shield that was placed into operations at the future Line 7 that will be linking 68 stations on lines 7, 9 and 11. The city will be adding six more tunnel shields is scheduled to be installed before the year ends.
The Metro line 7 will be constructed in 27 sections with 23 tunnels shields that are purchased or rented by the contractor Sinohydro Construction Group and the metro line is scheduled t be completed in September 2016 and to be fully operational by December. The Metro line 7 extends more than 30 kilometers west to east and ends at Lishui Station in Nanshan and the other will end at the Tai’an Station in Luohu. The Line 7 will have 28 stations that will connect XIli, Futian South, Huaqiangbei, Longzhu, Tainbei, Sungang and Buxin which covers half of the southern part of Shenzhen’s main business and residential areas.
This is the third phase of the Metro development that will be operational by 2016 at the cost of 24 billion yuan and will be adding 105 kilometers of railway to the Metro network. To prepare for the new lines the Shenzhen Metro placed an order for eight electric train carriages from CSR Group Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Corp.
Based on the deal the first train will be delivered on September 2015 and will include six regular carriages and two carriages design with seats that can carry luggage for passengers traveling to Shenzhen International airport.
