Commission to Place all Beaches Under One Unified Development Plan

Commission to Place all Beaches Under One Unified Development PlanThe commission on urban planning, land and resources is creating a plan that will place all of Shenzhen’s beaches under one unified development and put to an end the current beach management system.

There are 56 natural beaches found along Shenzhen coasts and covers 94 hectares along the east side of the city and the commission has already chosen 29 beaches that will be closed temporary are will create detailed development for the remaining 27 beaches. Development on these beaches will include sightseeing, leisure and new and upgraded facilities that are available for visitors.

Dameisha beach is the only beach that is managed by the government while other beaches are being managed by enterprises or communities or are left unmanaged. The tickets that are sold are the main source of revenue for these develops beaches which led to these having less developed facilities. While Dapeng New Area is home to more than 40 beaches and half if this are illegally used for profit.

The director of the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design said that these beaches are considered as special resources and it’s not appropriate to use these beaches into profit making businesses. Also development of these beaches should concentrate on leisure and entertainment rather than profit making.

  1. This is a good step from the Shenzhen government to put an end to the unfair payment of tickets to enter many beaches area, specially in Dapeng Peninsula. Hope that the the beaches temporry closed will be open back soon.
