China Mobile to Lure More Subscribers by Increasing Handset Subsidies
China Mobile Ltd is planning to invest more on subsidies as the company tries to boost its smart phone sales as much as 42 percent in its efforts to attract customers in its new 4G high speed services, by next year China Mobile plans to sell around 220 million smart phones compared with their 155 million target for 2013. Although no details on the amount of the subsidy and the status of the Apple is willing to offer the iPhone.
The subsidies for handsets will be expanded to 27 billion yuan by next year as the company seeks to push more of its 750 million subscribers to its higher priced voice and data plans in its new network. The company has already signed agreements with several handset manufacturers to make sure that the company can get the right devices that can operate on the new 4G network. The new 4G service will create a new future of its users and it will promote the popularity of various innovations of applications.
China mobile got the approval to start commercial service using the 4G service which will be marketed under their name. There was no mention about Apple is among the list of handset makers that will be providing 4G devices for China Mobile. Although the company and apple is already close in an agreement for a distribution deal since Apple agreed to supply handset units once China Mobile shifted to the 4G network.
