City Doctor’s Information to Be Registered Online for Easy Access by Public Hospitals
City health officials are planning to record all the city doctor’s registration information and background electronically along with skills and morality evaluation in files that can be access by all public hospitals in the city. The new measure is intended to ease the tensions between a doctor and patients.
For the year 2013 the city saw 120 incidents that involved doctors being attacked or injured by disgruntled patients and the number of these incidents increased by 20 percent for the past three years which also triggered concerns from medical workers on their safety while doing their work. These prompted the city public hospital management center to implement a zero tolerance on attacks or injury that are caused to medical workers
The tension is said to be the result of both parties coming into unreasonable distribution of medical resources. The doctors are working mainly in hospitals and the number of these practitioners working at community hospital is minimal. The city health and planning commission is planning to expand the hospital appointment services to further reduce a patient’s difficulty in registering at hospitals. Furthermore the city still lacks around 8,000 doctors and 22,000 nurses for its 10,000 hospital beds even with the increase in the number of patients,
The city has already piloted several reforms for hospitals which have led to a 3 percent decline in medical fees. The medical fee are paid by outpatients and medical fee that are paid by inpatients and outpatients who goes to community clinics dropped around 6 percent and 13 percent this year.
