City Officials Plans to do Administrative Reorganizing
City officials are planning to incorporate the food administration and drug administration in the city into one agency. The new administration will be called the Shenzhen Municipal Food and Drug Administration. Several other administrations will also go undergo administrative reorganizing.
The Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervision Administration will now be called the Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervision Administration Committee and will cover three divisions namely the food and drug administration, the market supervision administration executive office and the market regulation office. The original administration will also integrate the food and drug supervision into one single body but was divided into two in 2009 when the city initiated a reform that reconstructed functional divisions in the government.
Based on the reform the drug administration is created to overlook pharmaceuticals, health care products and cosmetics and the food safety committee is in charge of food safety supervision. Both organizations are governed by the Shenzhen Municipal Health, Population and Family Planning Committee. In 2012 the city government announced that the food safety supervision administration will be created under the municipal market supervision administration bureau. Since the creation of the food safety supervision administration took series of measures that handled food safety problems such as bad beef or pork.
The latest merge is in line with the requirement of the food safety supervision administration of Guangdong Province that was issued in August 29 that stated that the food and drug supervision will be separated from other government organizations before the year ends.
