China Unveils New Helicopter During Maiden Flight
The People’s Liberation Army Chinese made helicopter made its maiden flight successfully. The helicopter has a new type of medium lift and general purpose has completed its test flight at an airport in the northeastern part of the country.
The reports on the new helicopter came as photos of the aircraft was posted in a popular military forum which prompted a series of speculation from tech savvy military enthusiast on the potential of the new helicopter’s performance and efficiency. Given the name Z-20 a codename that is in line with the naming patterns of previous military chopper models. The new helicopter’s exterior is almost similar to the U.S. Sikorsky UH-60 or better known as the Black Hawk.
The new PLA helicopter is believed to be used as a utility copter that has a capacity of 10 tons placing it between the category of agile attack copters and heavy transportation copters. Unlike the other aircraft it is designed for a specific application and the new helicopter flexibility allows it to be modified according to a wide range of tasks ranging from assault, electronic warfare, transportation and special ops.
The new helicopter can boost the nation’s naval power as its has the potential to land on ships such as Liaoning the country’s aircraft carrier.
