Grammatical Error on Universiade Tower Corrected
Two and a half years since the summertime collegiate sports event in the city the grammatical mistakes that was placed on the Universaide Cauldron Tower in Nanshan was corrected. The incorrect use of the English language ordinal numbers that were written as 1th, 2th and 3th drew public attention since the tower was erected at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. Several citizens have pointed out the mistakes that should be read as 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The first time the mistake was reported was in august if 2011 when an unidentified person saw the incorrect numbers were a convention of all the summer Universiades. The person said that the style that was used on the marking of that was based on the International University Sports Federation guidebook. Residents also called newspapers to complain the error and reports are still being received until the sign was corrected.
Again by late November the sign was criticized by language experts which prompted the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office start a correction project at the tower this month to do the corrections that was completed this week.
