China’s Top Leaders Gather to Pay Respect to Mao Zedong
President Xi Jinping along with the seven top leaders of China visited Mao Zedong mausoleum in Tian’anmen Square to pay their respect as they commemorate the 120th anniversary of Mao’ birth. President Jinping said that he and the party are forever grateful for Mao’s thought in pursuing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The event was presided by Liu Yunshan and was attended by other leaders including Zhang Dejiang, Li Keqiang, Wang Qishan, Yu Zhengsheng and Zhang Gaoli. The leaders made three bows towards Mao’s seated statue and paid their respects to Mao’s remains. XI praised Mao and the other members of the older generation of revolutionaries considering them as great figures that stood and fought for the national and class oppression. Mao was the founder of the CPC, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Republic of China and was also one of the greatest proletarian revolutionary theorist and strategist.
Xi also said that these great leaders should not be worshipped as gods since they are only human beings that contributed so much to the society and should not be refused to allow other people to point out and correct their mistakes just because they are superior. And we can not also erase their historical because of their mistakes.
