Call Center for Unified Taxi Service Allows Drivers to Communicate with Passengers
The city transport commission has opened a call center for a unified taxi service that will allow drivers and its passengers to use mobile taxi apps to communicate with each other. Users can call 8316-8316 to gain access to the taxi service or visit www.sztb.gov.cn to get the mobile app for the call center. An extra 2 yuan per ride will be charged for the use of the taxi service.
The call center will be open 24 hours and will cover the city’s 16,000 taxi cabs that are already equipped with the service terminals. The service will be offering immediate pick up with reservations especially those handicaps accessible taxi cabs. The city has also added 100 taxis as of yesterday to further serve residents with physical disabilities, pregnant women, resident with severe illness and the elderly. Residents on wheelchairs need to make reservation at least two hour before their planned departure.
Once the call center receives a call it will immediately dispatch the nearest taxi cab and drivers will be contacting the passengers directly. Drivers can also cancel any pick up just by confirming with the center that the passenger who called in the pickup are delayed for more than five minutes or passengers with reservations are delayed for more than 15 minutes.
Passengers failing to take the called cabs or canceled immediate pickup requests, cancel reservations within an hour of pickup time will get demerits and will be recorded in the call center’s database and those earning more than two demerits within a year will be banned from using the taxi service.
