City Implements New Laws as a New Year StartsAs the year 2014 enters the city implemented several new laws especially on issues on smoking control, elevator management, dump truck regulation personal information protection and medical insurance. The city also added new safety regulations for the use of special equipment such as the removal of elevators that failed their safety evaluations.

Building administrators that keep using these unsafe elevators even after failing evaluation will be fined 300,000 yuan. There are 80,000 elevators in the city and there has been an increase of elevator related incidents which raised safety concerns on several residents.

Also as of yesterday several new local laws took effect that increased fine for violators that are caught smoking in public non smoking areas. Passengers will also be fined 500 yuan to 2,000 yuan for smoking on high speed trains or non smoking sections of the train as part of their safety regulations. And based on the new waste disposal regulations dump truck drivers that didn’t fully enclose its construction waste while transporting will be subjected to a 5,000 yuan per trip.

To protect consumers, online sellers using fake information that cheat buyers, delete or change trading information and leak buyers personal information will be fined based on the anti fraud regulation which is the first of its kind in the city.
