Several Shenzhen residents are in a rush to book dinner reservations for the upcoming Spring festival as more restaurants are now starting to offer new full menus that are filled with promotions and special dishes. During the eve of the Spring Festival that falls on the 30th of January, many families tend to have family reunions since its one of the many Chinese tradition in china and these families usually have their family reunion dinners at home but dinner at restaurants is gaining popularity.
Special rooms in restaurants can hold seven to eight people and families usually have their dinner around 5 to 7:30 pm. Family that don’t like to rush dinner services usually book dinners between 7:30 to 10 pm. The minimum bill spent for this dinner is 3,000 yuan and for rooms that can hold more than eight persons usually have a minimum fee of 4,000 yuan.
Many private enterprises have called Shenzhen their home and the restaurant industry saw a small negative impact of other cities from the ongoing nationwide campaign that restricted dinners given by government and state owned enterprises. And some restaurants are starting to accept group purchases or even canceled the minimum consumption fee which some interpreted as a way around the anti corruption campaign.
