District to Host More International Events as Part of Internationalization
This year Futian district is planning to sponsor more events that have international influence as part of their effort in becoming a more internationalized area. The district will have new events ranging from forums to various exhibitions paired with cultural sports activities.
The district administration will also continue to do cooperative exchanges and projects with foreign urban districts in the fields of education, culture, finance, science and technology. Furthermore the district is planning to complete the installation of bilingual public signs and to improve the English language services further in all government service facilities.
Futian is also aiming to complete all systems that are related to their volunteer expat team which is the first of its kind in Shenzhen. The volunteer team started in March and is growing and now has more than 100 members. The team was awarded the international group award by the district as recognition of its notable participation of the foreign team in volunteer services. A member for the volunteer team believe that the district can grow to be a more expat friendly by having more officers in key government offices that are able to communicate in English.
To create a more foreign friendly district major buildings and street signs must have English translation. The district is also planning to push 20 projects that are planned for this year to improve the well being of its residents by creating mass education on the dangers of smoking in public places through paper and electronic media.
Other projects will include the construction of a 39 kilometer hiking and cycling tracks, 10 daytime care centers for its seniors and elderly and the renovation and upgrade of 23 garbage transfer stations in urban villages.
