Night Train Route will be Added to Cope Up with Travel Peak
To help cope up with the travel peak during the pre Spring Festival holidays the Shenzhen North Railway Station will add a night train going to Zhengzhou in Henan Province a week ahead. From January 22 to 24 and from January 26 to 28 the night train will leave Shenzhen at 11:40 pm and is said to arrive Zhengzhou by 6:50 am.
The railway operator Guangzhou Railway said that it will also be adding 44 high speed trains on the Beijing-Guangzhou, Guangzhou-Zhuhai and the Shenzhen-Guangzhou lines to help boost their passenger capacity. The railway group operates more than 738 pairs of trains during the pre-festival period and around 765 pairs during the post festival period.
Tickets for the trains on the Xiamen-Shenzhen line have already sold out. The line has carried more than 480,000 passengers since the day it started their operations last December 28 and the line is the first choice of Shantou and Chaozhou residents that are working in Shenzhen since the trains are more comfortable and faster. Peak travel for students is estimated to happen Thursday to January 21. Student tickets purchases has reached 741,000, 61 percent of the ticket sales were made online and by phone.
