Shenzhentong Card Counters Closed for Upgrades
Several residents have been complaining lately in the inconvenience that was the results of the closures of sales counter of the Shenzhentong transit card at some metro stations. Residents were disappointed to find these sales counter closed as they plan to buy transit cards to their family and were told by staff to buy transit cards at other Metro stations. The company responsible for the issuance of Shenzhentong cards admits of the closure stating that these counters are undergoing upgrades.
The closed counters will open these sales counters after the company finishes their system upgrades after the Spring Festival. A spokesperson for the company acknowledged the closures and is now operating 24 sales counter at all Metro stations that has line transfers and will gradually increase the number of counters to 31 this weekend. The company is also planning to open at least 50 sales counters in the future as a response to the complaints that they are receiving from residents.
The company has also stopped for the transit cards since January. Before people were able to pay 0.4 yuan per month for these cards in which the cards will belong to the buyer after 40 monthly payments, a practice that is criticized by many users.
