City to Invest in a Medical Center to Support Small Clinics
Shenzhen is planning to create a medical center that will provide technical support to clinics and will facilitate its development. Mayor Xu Qin said that the center will serve as a platform that will provide services ranging from diagnostics tests to private clinics which will allow doctors to open their clinic without spending large amounts of money.
These clinics will no longer have to purchase medical equipment, but no further details were released on when the center will open. The center was intended to increase the supply of high quality medical resources. So far Shenzhen achieved a fast economic growth, but stil lacks high quality medical resources and the existing medical resources in the city are unevenly distributed and the resident’s increases in demands are not met. City health officials are planning to increase their efforts in attracting known doctors and to open more hospitals and clinics in 2014.
And when meeting a resident medical demand, the city will continue to take efforts in becoming an international medical center and to gather the best medical resources. During the press conference, city mayor Xu answered other questions including the issues on the development of the economy of the bay area and on the landfill expansion plans of Hong Kong.
