Mobile Taxi Booking to Offer Subsidies to Passengers
Taxi booking apps together with online fare payment services are now offering incentives this month in hopes to attract local users. Tencent is teaming up with CITIC Private Equity Funds Management Co. and is investing around US$ 100 million in the taxi booking app Didi Taxi and are offering taxi drivers as well as passengers a 10 yuan incentive for evry successful order paid using Tencent’s WeChat App.
From February 10 passengers paying taxi fares using the mobile app can get a 10 yuna discount per rids of up tp 30 yuan a day, while drivers can save 50 yuan a day. Meanwhile Alipay the payment service provider of Alibaba have also announced its plans in investing 500 million yuan in Kuaidi Taxi App which will offer 10 yuan incentive for passengers and 15 yuan for the drivers on every ride booked using Kuaidi which works on 40 cities including Shenzhen. the app has been installed by more than 10,000 taxis in Shenzhen. cab drivers can accept up to 5 Kuaidi reservations and passengers can get two a day.
A taxi driver can accept five Kuaidi Taxi reservation incentives per day, while passengers can receive two incentives a day.
Passengers should make full use of these subsidies as experts say that around 70 percent of cab drivers using the WeChat app can earn an additional 3,000 yuan when using the app properly. But some drivers are warning passengers not to rely on the app especially during rush hours as booking using the app can be difficult.
