Various Activities in Several Parts of the City to Greet in the Chinese New Year
In the coming days a wide range of activities are held across Shenzhen in line with the celebration of the Spring Festival which some consider an important annual festival for the Chinese in which families gather together. The festival is compared to the Christmas holiday in Western countries.
Those interested in sports can check out the Universiade Sports Center in Longgang which will be open free of charge to the public from 2 pm until 6 pm tomorrow until February 6. The main stadium will open for soccer games. Those interested in booking the place can make reservations through hotlines. Lion and dragon dances will be performed in Bao’an at the Haibin Plaza from 9 am to 10 am during the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse.
The Shenzhen Children’s Library will be showing cartoons free of charge and children are welcome to come and watch from 2 pm to 4 pm tomorrow until February 2 and from February 4 to 6. Theme parks in the city will also be offering numerous attractions as well.
The Splendid China and the China Folk Culture Villages in Nanshan will also be having temple fairs which originated during ancient times when people come and offer sacrifices to village gods which slowly turned into marketplaces for exchanging products and sharing cultural performances.
