Shenzhen to Create a More Comprehensive Bus System
The city will be adding and renew 1,500 buses plus add 80 more bus routes to the city existing routes this year to further build a comprehensive bus system,. Bus stop coverage found within 500 meters in the Bao’an and Longgang district will be at 87 percent more.
To promote cycling and public transport use, an additional 100 kilometers of bus lanes will be created along with 150 kilometers of bike lanes. Bus stops will be placed 100 meters in every Metro station in the city. 500 new generation bus stops will be built along with 10 bus terminals. To reduce traffic congestion at the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, a traffic improvement system will be made for the Science and Technology Park of Huawei Technologies, Shekou and Chegongmiao along with other tourism destinations.
The city public transport handles 9 million travelers daily and to have a world class public transport system in the next five years, the city will promote the uses of its 6,000 new energy buses along with the 3,000 electric taxis. Also to support the plans for green commuting strategy, the additional buses will be hybrid ones or solely powered by electricity. Further more the city will use 500 electric taxis, construction 50 charging stations and another 1,000 charging stands for new energy vehicles.
