City to Add More Roadside Parking Spaces
As the number of vehicles in the city reaches two million, 45,000 additional roadside parking spaces will be added throughout the city, with different parking fees based on where the spaces will be located. Parking fees for non-residential areas will be increased as well as parking fees for government vehicles.
Phase three of the Metro has already begun and once completed, there will be a Metro Station every 800 meters in most parts of the city accessible to residents. By 2015 the city will also have added and adjusted 300 more bus routes to have stops every 500 meters. The construction of the Futian-Bantian Express Bus Link and other express links will be facilitated by the city which will cover Zhenhua Road West, Meiban Boulevard, Huanggang Road, Wuhe Boulevard, Banxuegang Boulevard and Jihua Road.
The changes in the parking fees have already been approved by the city government. Residents will be encouraged to take public transportation more due to the new parking fee adjustments. Economic and administrative measure will be created to control traffic levels and reduce traffic jams further, especially in the central business districts.
