More Than 5 million Tourists came to Visit Shenzhen for the Holidays
During this year’s Spring Festival holiday the city has received around 5.6 million tourists a 9 percent increase from last year. According to the city tourism administration, visiting tourists has generated revenues that reached a total of 692 million yuan a yearly growth of almost 12 percent.
58 percent of the incoming tourists came from outside of Guangdong with some coming from different provinces or regions. While 30 percent in the tourists drove to Shenzhen or took advantage of the national toll free policy that was implemented during the holiday. The majority of tourists coming from within Guangdong come from Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Guangzhou and Foshan. Local resorts showed increase in the number of visitors and an increase in income during the holiday.
The newly opened Wuhan-Guangzhou and the Xiamen-Shenzhen high speed railway have contributed to the increase of visitors coming into Shenzhen. So far the tourist administration gave no reports on any serious complaints from tourists during the week long holiday.
But according to an independent survey that were answered by visiting tourists gave suggestions that they city should increase its variety if attractions for tourists, further improve traffic, reduce resort prices, improve public hygiene and build more bathrooms for women. Several travel agencies were also punished after the city initiated a campaign that cracked down on irregularities in the tourism industry since December.
