Center to Remain Open to Accomodate Marriage Registrations
Marriage registration appointments calls for Friday which happens to be both the Lantern Festival and the Valentine’s Day have been fully booked in most registrations centers in the city. Although there is no cap on the amount of people that can line up and register their marriage without making any reservations and the staff at these centers will be working double time to accommodate as many couples as they can by Friday.
The Chinese Lantern Festival that falls on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar year and based on Chinese traditions colorful lanterns are hung at the beginning of the new lunar year when the full moon hangs in the sky. The Lantern Festival also celebrated Chinese Valentine’s Day wherein Chinese women who stayed at home went out during the lantern festival to enjoy the lanterns and at the same time meet young men. Staff from the marriage registration center said that couples should be physically both at the center to register whether their reservations were make online or not.
Couples with reservations will be registered first and those without reservations are asked to come later in the afternoon to register. The civil affairs bureau are reminding people that the online marriage registration services has ended in November and local couples who need to access the website of the civil affairs department to make reservation for their marriage.
