Enterprises Increases Efforts in Recruiting Workers after the Holidays
Around 100 local enterprises are increasing their recruiting efforts for skilled workers at the Shenzhen Talent Market in Luohu a few days after the Spring Festival in anticipation of the post holiday labor shortage. Although the job seeking peak is not expected to arrive till this weekend just after the Lantern Festival.
But since last Friday these local enterprises have already filled up the 210 booths at the talent market and offers more than 10,000 vacancies and so far around 5,000 people have visited the talent market. Based on recent market date the manufacturing and electronics industry are the ones with the most need for skilled workers.
Enterprises in Longgang started to recruit workers just after the Spring Festival holiday to fight the annual labor shortage that usually happens after the holidays. Small private factories are having a hard time in finding enough workers in the hardware, electronics and plastics industry. One factory manager said that most of his workers went home a month before the Spring Festival and he was forced to refuse orders and since some of his employees are not coming back after the Spring Festival he’s afraid that he might have insufficient workers to finish the work left behind.
City officials has raised the minimum wage to 1,800 yuan a month since February 1 and ordinary workers can earn around 3,500 to 4,000 yuan a month after training and skilled workers can bring in more than 5,000 yuan a month. Meanwhile other local enterprises are not resuming business until the end of the Lantern Festival for better chances in getting workers during job fairs that will be held after the festival.
