Local Enterprises Beefing Up Recruitment to Gather Skilled Workers
Around a hundred local enterprises are beefing up its recruitment efforts to gather skilled workers during the Shenzhen Talent Market in Luohu just after the Spring Festival in fear of having a post holiday labor shortage. The peak of job seeking is not expected to happen until after the Lantern Festival, but the booths at the talent market have already been filled up by these enterprises and around 10,000 job vacancies are available. But with the available job vacancies only 5,000 people came to the talent market to look for work.
To fight the labor shortage enterprises in Longgang started to recruit during the Spring Festival, and a lot of small. Private factories are now having difficulties hiring enough skilled workers in manufacturing plastics, electronics and hardware industry. Several workers came home at least a month before the Spring Festival which had several enterprises to hold production orders but due to some employees are not coming back to work after the holiday.
City officials has raised the minimum wage in the city to 1,800 yuan a month as of February which means a ordinary factory worker can earn 3,500 to 4,000 yuan a month after undergoing training and a skilled worker will earn around 5,000 yuan.
Sub districts have also organized job fairs to attract workers, but saw that many of them are students that have received training for a specific enterprise and have jobs already lined up before they graduate.
