Commission to Install Upgraded LED Screens on City Taxis
The city transportation commission is planning to install multifunctional terminals on all of the 16,000 taxis in roaming the city during the first half of this year. A five inch LED device will be installed and will provide GPS navigation, service assessments, call center reminders and allows passengers to pay with cards which include Unipay, Alipay and the Shenzhentong cards.
The installed device is intended to reduce the risks that taxi drivers who use mobile phones to answer phone calls from the call centers while driving. After the terminal is updated the driver can press a button to answer or call back the center. Last December, Shenzhen opened a call center for a unified taxi service in December that allows drivers and passengers to communicate using mobile taxi apps. The call center service platform is open and free to all taxi apps just as long they meet the standards, accept service agreements and pass the tests given by the call center.
The call center has already received more than 150,000 orders and has completed 90,000 of them which is around 57 percent. Passengers that fail to take the requested taxis, cancels pick up requests or cancel within an hour of scheduled times will get demerits. These demerits are recorded at the call centers database and those who receive more than two demerits in a year will be prohibited from using the center.
