Budget Airlines to Start Adding New Flights from Shenzhen
Budget airline companies are gradually adding more flights at the Shenzhen International Airport which in turn increase the presence and adding more options for travelers. The first budget airline Spring Airlines is scheduled to start offering nonstop flights from Shenzhen going to Sheyang, Zhangjiakou and Hangzhou soon with a minimum fare of around 199 yuan.
The Shanghai based airline will also be offering flights from Shenzhen to Guiyan in March and will add more Shenzhen flight going to other places such as Bali this year for just under a few hundred yuan. Four budget airlines are now offering new flights at the Shenzhen International Airport such as Singapore’s Tiger Airways and Air Asia that carries a combined number of passengers of 1.2 million last year around 4 percent of the airport total. Shenzhen airport is now studying the possibility of constructing a terminal that will be used specifically for budget airlines.
Airport operator and these budget airlines agrees that the new flights should be scheduled before 8 am or after 11 pm and will offer routes to international destinations or to domestic fourth and third tiered cities. The airport operator also facilitates an agreement with the local government to provide subsidies to these budget airlines.
By constructing a terminal for budget airlines will bring in new development opportunities as the terminal will attract other budget airlines from China and will make Shenzhen a low cost transfer hub for southern China.
