Restaurants to Start Implementing Smoking Ban by March
Around 60,000 restaurants will be hit by the smoking ban that the city will be implementing after revisions on the regulations of the smoking controls will take effect. The food safety supervision bureau stated that it will be providing 450,000 warning signs on the smoking controls to restaurants before the regulations will be implemented. These restaurants are required to implement a no smoking rules and set aside staff to enforce the new ruling.
The restaurants are also required to tell smoking diners to stop smoking, and if these diners refuse to follow the request they will be asked to leave the premises. Restaurants can report these incidents to any related government departments. The new smoking regulations are enforced by seven government department namely the tourism, police, market supervision, education and urban management. The food safety supervision bureau also require restaurants to stop providing food to those who refuse
Local restaurants should start preparing for the implementation of the new smoking regulation by March 1, proper no smoking signs and staff training should be organized as early as possible. Those caught smoking in non smoking establishments will be fined 50 to 500 yuan and the establishment will be fined 30,000 yuan as punishment for ineffective enforcement. Smoking will also be banned in all public indoor workplaces, parks, medical institutions, public transportation and schools.
