Checkpoints to Undergo Renovations to Relieve Traffic Congestions
]Although details are still being discussed sources say that Meilin Checkpoint will undergo renovations, Buji and Nantou checkpoints will also be renovated along with more the plans to build more roads or expand the old one. To relieve traffic congestion in several checkpoints in the city, the transport commission has decided to either dismantle or renovate the facilities.
These plans are center on these three checkpoints since these checkpoints have the mostly criticized for is traffic jams. Buses that are using the checkpoints take 20 to 40 minutes to pass especially during the morning and evening rush hours.
There are also several trunk roads that connect to Meilin Checkpoint which in turn connects to downtown Shenzhen to the Longgang and Bao’an Districts. And because of these it increases the number of cars on the roads increasing traffic pressure and bringing it out of control.
Shenhui Road narrows into a two way four lane road from a two way six lane road once it approach Buji Checkpoint which in turn creates bottleneck traffic. In order to relieve congestion transport authorities are planning to dismantle facilities at the checkpoint.
