City Plans to do Roadside Projects as Part of Ecological Landscaping Development
According to the city urban management Shenzhen launched several road landscaping projects. The project will help create ecological landscaping belts or greenways. The city government will be investing a total of 610 million yuan to plant trees and flowers in the roadsides of nineteen major highways and railways in the span of eight years.
The plans will include the completion of a 100 kilometers demonstration belt of roadways that includes the Nanguang Expressway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Shenzhen-Shantou Expressway and the Qingping Expressway. The demonstration belt will cost around 150 yuan to construct.
The city government decided to plant local and flowering trees instead of planting expensive nonnative trees and each of the greenway belt will feature different varieties of flowers and trees. The government will also be encouraging residents to take part of the project by diversifying revenues sources in each district and inviting funding from private individuals and companies.
