More Road Signs to Be Installed Leading to Railway Station
The city transportation commission is adding 17 large signs on Liuxian Boulevard, Central Zhiyuan Road and Yulong Road to assist drivers going to Shenzhen North Railway Station. The commission is also planning to improve traffic guidance on several roads that can access the station and is unveiling maps for the railway station at the Minzhi Sub district at the Longhua New Area.
The plan to add more signs came after complains from drivers saying that it is difficult to travel to the station by car. Drivers traveling to Shenzhen North railway Station needs to take Beihuan Boulevard then turn north going to Huanggang, Xiangmi and Caitian flyover so that they can access Xinqu and Liuxian Boulevard and Fulong Road. Drivers taking Nanping Expressway can turn to Fulong Flyover and take Fulong Road, Yulong Road and Liuxian Boulevard going to the station.
The deputy chief for the Phoenix Satellite Chinese TV wrote on his personal blog that signs pointing to Shenzhen North Railway Station are confusing and inadequate and some of the signs actually led him to the Shenzhen North Bus Terminal and since the terminal doesn’t allow private vehicles from entering, he had to make an illegal U-turn to reach the nearest exit. His post has drawn same responses from other drivers who had the same experiences and were also misled by the signs.
Unlike Hong Kong road signs for destinations are placed every few hundred meter going to the destination, and it allows drivers to be familiar with the streets and to drive properly.
