Shenzhen to Become Research Base of Software Products and Services
Shenzhen is fast becoming a part of China’s important research and export base for their software products and services. Shenzhen also formed a service system for software development. Software industry revenues already reached 150 billion yuan in 2010, and city have been registering patents for more than 10,000 software products from 2008 to 2009 and currently have 20 laboratories and technology service platforms in software research and development.
Shenzhen plans to build itself into a global leader in software development, further enhancing their advantageous position in the integrated circuit design. To forge Shenzhen’s competitive edge in the software industry, the city is planning to optimize their environment in the software research and development and improve their policies and integrate resources.
This measures were part of the city’s effort to build itself into a well known software city. A memorandum signed between the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information serves as a milestone marking the initiation of the ministry Stella Software City Program. Guangzhou and Shenzhen were chosen to pilot the program, the two cities will be turned into prestigious software twin cities that will complement their respective advantages and sharing mutual benefits.
