Studies Shows More Children Suffering from Sleeping Problems
Most parents who notice their children snoring when sleeping think that the child is just over-tired, when in fact the snoring child might be suffering from sleep apnea, which studies have shown affects 1 to 3 percent of the children in Shenzhen. Snoring occurs when a child’s breathing temporarily stops and the anorexic sleep can affect their growth.
According to a report gathered from city hospitals, three percent of the city’s children and at least half of the entire population are suffering from a sleeping problem that is currently being neglected. Children who lack sleep or have poor sleep are usually short, have slow brain development and also suffer from problems such as attention deficit disorder, absent mindedness and learning disabilities. A primary school student should at least have 10 hours of sleep and a child in middle school needs around eight hours of sleep.
Children are not the only ones affected with poor sleeping habits, research has also shown that 50 percent of adults are also suffering from sleeping problems especially senior citizens and executives. Having poor sleeping habits in adults can lead to depression and anxiety. High stress is usually the common cause of sleep problems among executives and seniors having insufficient sleep is mostly due to other health problems.
Doctors advise those suffering from sleeping problems to get medical treatment, as opposed to treating yourself with information gathered from the Internet which may only make the problem worse.
