Beijing to be More Selective in Chosing Industries for Economic Development
According to Beijing’s executive deputy mayor, the city needs to move out high polluting low end industries out of the city and increase its attention on economic development. Beijing must be more selective in which industries it should be promoting and economic growth must be driven by high end industries that use green and low carbon businesses.
Rumors were also dismissed on some institutions such as hospitals, universities and government owned enterprises will be moving part of their operations out of the capital as a strategy that coordinated the development of Tianjin, Hebei and Beijing. Officials object on the administrative measures in doing this stating that it is only the enterprises to decide on where they will place their headquarters since most of its functions don’t need to be located in Beijing.
An example of this situation is patients at hospitals in Beijing comes from outside of the city and cannot be treted locally but they desire to be treated in the city. If hospital could set up branches outside of Beijing will solve that problem. But these doesn’t mean that the hospital to transfer their main offices, but to no longer expand but create more branches outside of Beijing.
